• I really liked Prof. Silva’s teaching style. He was organized, clear, and answered questions in class as well as during office hours. He was very clear about what was going to be on tests and what we were expected to know. Slideshows were well made, simple, and organized, and class resources were posted on Nexus in a timely manner. The Excel practices helped me gain practical skills that I could also use in the workforce or in internships.
• Professor Silva does a very good job of keeping the class relaxed while also holding your attention by highlighting the importance of what we are learning. The hands-on experiences, coupled with lectures that detail what the work we do really means makes the class interesting, and this is mostly because of how he teaches.

• One of the best professors I have had at Union. His class was very structured and he was able to format the class in a way to get all students involved. Very nice guy that is able to help you 1 on 1 in office hours but also walk you through the content in class. Demonstrated very complicating content in a easygoing way for the students. I enjoyed coming to class every week.
• I thought Professor Silva’s course was very interesting. Professor Silva genuinely cares about his students, and you can tell by his interest in your personal life at break times and in between class time. He was always available to help during office hours and I would highly recommend this professor.
• Mr. Silva was very prompt in responding to my email questions, and was very clear in lectures. He is very clear at discussing in detail some of the more difficult concepts, and is very good at coming up with great examples of those concepts.
• Every time Mr. Silva walked into class he would say “hello” to everyone which immediately brings a warm and friendly atmosphere before even starting class and I enjoyed that. Secondly, Mr. Silva would try to recap where we were as a class in the beginning of lecture to make sure everyone was on the same page. The material was presented in a simple and not overly complicated way. Just straight to the point and only the content that we needed to know for class. The materials that we did learn were also related to real life events and companies which I think help people to feel more motivated to learn the material. Thank you.
• Excellent class. The course and teaching style was very straightforward. Very fair tests and grading. There were no surprise material questions on the exams. Every part of the material was reflected on the exams as expected and as we went over in class. Review session was very helpful and encouraged clarifications and questions. Instructor was very approachable.
• I really benefited from both having the lecture notes and from you walking us through the material in detail step-by-step in class. You have great pacing, so you made it feel as though the class wasn’t rushed even though this session was 2x speed. Since the practice problems you went through in class and homework were representative of the class, I was able to use them to study.
• Murilo Silva was a very effective instructor who exhibited a lot of patience and effort to explain the course material to students who attended the class and asked questions. He provided a sufficient number of examples to illustrate the notions of each chapter and he made sure the class was well-equipped to tackle the assignments and examinations allowing us to succeed.
